Free Peer Led Eating Disorder
Support Groups

EDAS collaborates with the Collegiate Recovery Center (CRC) to host peer-led eating disorder support groups. Whether you're seeking a safe space to share your journey, engage in discussions about societal pressures related to food and body, or looking to support a loved one, our group is here for you.

Our mission is to foster a sense of community and empowerment by encouraging students to practice vulnerability with others. We strive to create an environment in which students can build confidence in their recovery and learn that they are not alone in their struggles. EDAS is committed to ensuring that every student feels heard, understood, and supported, as we believe in the transformative power of peer connections and shared experiences. Together, we can navigate the challenges, celebrate the victories, and inspire one another to thrive.

More Information

Where and when do support groups take place?

Our peer-led support groups will take place on Tuesdays of weeks 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 from 6:30pm-7:30pm at the CRC office in the EMU, Room 331. Taking the elevator near Chipotle (first floor) up to the third floor is recommended.

Who is welcome?

Our support group welcomes all individuals, regardless of personal struggles with disordered eating or body image or knowing someone who has. We recognize the impact of harmful food and body narratives and believe that everyone can participate in constructive conversations about these topics. Please feel free to include anyone in your support system to attend meetings with you.

What can I expect?

Groups will begin with introductions and intentions, followed by a societal discussion around food and body culture guided by EDAS board members. We will continue with open sharing and peer feedback and end with a closing mantra.

Are these support groups free?

Absolutely! No cost is necessary for participation. We strive to make our resources as accessible as possible.

Do I need to sign up for these support groups?

No, everyone is welcome to attend at any time, and sign-ups are not necessary.

Our peer-led support groups are peer-support oriented services, not psychotherapy or mental health treatment. Information shared with staff is considered private, consistent with the parameters of state and federal law and UO policy. If we believe you are a danger to yourself or others, we may share this information with the Office of the Dean of Students or Counseling Services. Other situations where we may share information with others include child or elderly abuse and legal requests for information.
