Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
At EDAS, we value inclusivity and fostering community above all. Check out our DEI statement, and feel free to ask us any questions about equity, accessibility, or how we follow through with our commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
Our Statement
As part of our mission, EDAS is dedicated to inclusivity and equity for everyone, regardless of identity or relationship with food and body. We value our community and the work that we do, and are committed to consistent education and training for our board members to ensure we are adequately equipped to support students of any identity, and to ensure that we do not further any negative biases or stereotypes. We recognize that we are students, not clinicians, and therefore have limited expertise, but we still strive towards advancing our education and commitment to equity. Our priority is the well-being of the community we serve. To ensure the safety and wellbeing of our community, we hold community guidelines that restrict triggers, prevent contributions to negative stereotypes, and maintain the standards of body neutrality. One of our core beliefs is that everyone eats food and everyone has a body, so everyone has a relationship with food and body, and therefore deserves support regardless of where they fall within that relationship. Our organization is a safe space for any individual, regardless of identity and lived experience. We want to recognize the bias and stereotypes present within discussions about food and body, particularly related to body size, race, and gender. We strive to combat and overcome these biases to make eating disorder support accessible and adequate for everyone. EDAS is and always will be a place for everyone.
